Tails from the whelping box
Welcome to Tails From The Whelping Box! Join us for a week-by-week dive into the joys, challenges, and adorable moments of raising your new Toy Australian Shepherd puppy in its first eight weeks of life.

Week one: a whelping wonderland
The first week is all about keeping mama healthy and our newborn Toy Aussie puppies warm, fed, and growing. We’re on round-the-clock duty, and loving every second.

Week two: eyes wide slightly open
This week, the puppies’ eyes begin to unseal! They’re getting more mobile too, taking their first wobbly steps around the whelping box.

Week three: sensory superstars
The puppies can see, hear, and are ready to explore. This week they graduate from the whelping box to the puppy pen, and start looking for trouble!

Week four: little paws, big strides
The puppies head outside for the first time! They’re also starting housebreaking, playing harder, and showing the first hints of their individual personalities.

Week five: capturing the chaos
Solid food makes its debut, socialization ramps up, and the puppies are exploring every (puppy-proofed) corner of the house. Things are getting delightfully chaotic around here.

Week six: training begins
Crate training, adventure walks, first car rides, and early recall work — week six is when we start actively preparing our Toy Aussie puppies for life in their new homes.

Week seven: growing up fast
Leash introduction, outdoor housebreaking, intensified recall training, and one-on-one time with each puppy. Week seven is busy, rewarding, and over before you know it.

Week eight: forever homes
Vet visits, microchipping, temperament evaluations, and tearful goodbyes. Our Toy Aussie puppies are ready for their forever homes — and we couldn’t be more proud.
